The access points of the SCALANCE W780 product line are optimized for the configuration of Industrial Wireless LAN (IWLAN) wireless networks for 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz with data transmission rates up to 54 Mbit/s. They can be used in all applications that require a high degree of operational reliability, even under extremely harsh environmental conditions.
There are three different product Series available which differentiate mostly between there different housing design and degree of protection.

SCALANCE W784 for installation in a cabinet or integration in devices

SCALANCE W788 for cabinet-free installation indoors

SCALANCE W786 for outdoor environments with demanding climatic requirements
All access points can also work as a Wireless Bridge (WDS) or as a Wireless Client. There are Client-only versions available as well. The W788 and W788 Series are available with up to two Wireless interfaces to establish for example connections in 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz at the same time.
With the addition of a replaceable C-Plug memory disk, Access Points or Clients can be exchanged without a programming device. The configuration or application data are secured on the C-PLUG and can be implemented in another Scalance W devices without special know how.
